Vodafone Turkey Foundation and Habitat Association will organize an online ideathon for high school students between the ages of 14-17 within the scope of struggle with the new type of coronavirus outbreak. In “Coding Tomorrow Online Covideathon”, students will be asked to develop a technological idea that will minimize the negative effects of the virus outbreak on the public. The application deadline for online ideathon is April 10.

Operating with the goal of being the vanguard of social change and development, Vodafone Turkey Foundation took action to support the fight against the new type of coronavirus outbreak. The Foundation cooperating with the Habitat Association will organize “Coding Tomorrow Online Covideathon” for high school students between the ages of 14-17. Within this scope, students will be asked to develop a technological idea that will minimize the negative effects of the virus outbreak on the public. The online ideathon, which is organized to raise awareness about the pandemic and to implement a viable idea, will be able to apply until April 10. Hackathon will take place on April 11-12.

“Because of the coronavirus outbreak that turned into a pandemic, we are going through an extraordinary process both in the world and in Turkey. As a society, we are at a time that we need to act with the spirit of unity and solidarity. As Vodafone Turkey Foundation, we use technology to improve human life with our vision ‘technology for good’. Accordingly, we decided to organize an online ideathon for high school students. We will ask our students to develop a technological idea that will minimize the negative effects of the virus outbreak on the public. Our goal is to raise awareness about the pandemic and implement an applicable idea. We believe that we will overcome the coronavirus outbreak as soon as possible and with the least damage. We need young ideas to fight the pandemic. We invite all high school students to “Coding Tomorrow Online Covideathon”.

Chairman of the Habitat Association, Sezai Hazır stated:

“There is the fact that the coronavirus agenda that exists in our country and in the world creates a crisis for everyone. We, together with the young people who will be the architects of our future, will evaluate together how we can solve such a global crisis, and how we can proceed using technology together in the online ideathon process. As Habitat Association, we have worked with young people for years, we have seen many points where their ideas and studies were beneficial for our country. Now, when there is a global agenda, we will build this crisis and our future with the brightest ideas. With our online ideathon, we expect our high school students to take steps that will change the world.”

They will receive online mentorship.

Teenagers in high school will be able to join the online ideathon in teams of 2-4 people. Those who want to join Ideathon will apply online on behalf of their team. Teams making the application will receive mentorship over online channels for 2 days. Mentors will also provide live training on the hour and online program specified on the ideathon calendar on one or more topics among idea development, impact analysis, entrepreneurship, marketing in this process. At the end of the 2-day project development process, teams will forward their projects to the ideathon committee. After the preliminary evaluation to be made among the submitted projects, 10 teams will be determined to advance to the finals. In the final stage, each of the teams that make their projects available will determine a representative. These representatives will present their projects within 5 minutes at the teleconference, where only juries and team representatives will be present. After the scoring made by the jury, the first 3 teams will be determined and announced. A total of 17,000 TL worth of technology vouchers will be distributed to those who rank in the online ideathon.
